Ethical Analysis of Automation: a Comparison of Different Ethical Theories through Case Studies

This paper briefly presents some of the main theories of ethics and then illustrates their application to a case study of the application of new technology in the form of genetically modified organisms. The case study illustrates the differences between the different ethical theories and the need for a more wide ranging 'multicriteria' theory of ethics. Copyright © 2002 IFAC
